Printer Troubles? Here’s How to Change Your Ink Cartridge.

The printer model will affect the little variation in changing an ink cartridge; here is a general guide suitable to most inkjet printers.

1-Get the New Cartridge ready

Get the right cartridge for the model of your printer. Check that the manufacturer of your cartridges is the right one. Various brands of ink cartridges are incompatible. Printer cartridges from the same brand can vary sometimes. Make sure you get a cartridge with the proper manufacturer and number. Pull off any protective tape or plastic coverings and remove the new cartridge from its packing.

2-Turn On the Printer

Make sure your printer is turned on before trying to get at the ink cartridges. This guarantees appropriate operation of the print carriage. Your printer might also be able to indicate which cartridges need to be changed and the precise ink levels. On a Windows machine, one may also check ink levels. Usually, the power button features a circle with a line running through the top as its emblem.

3-Access the Cartridge Section

Open the top cover or ink cartridge access door on the printer. Every printer model differs. A lid on top opens some models. Others open their front with a flap. Look for a release button or grip place where your fingers might grab the flap or lid. The ink cartridge carrying carriage should slide into the access area on its own.
Should the print carriage not move into the access area on its own, you might have to push the Ink change or stop button on the front panel of the printer to enable carriage movement into the access area. Try not to hand manipulate the print carriage. When the front panel of the printer opens or the correct button is pressed, it should move on its own. On some all-in-one printers, the scanner may lie beneath the printer cartridge box. To get at the print cartridge, raise the scanner.

4-Remove the old cartridge

The model printer you use could have several cartridges available to pick from. The manufacture and kind of the printer will affect the method you remove a cartridge using. If you need assistance emptying the cartridges, refer to the user’s handbook or manufacturer’s web page for your printer. A label inside the print cartridge container might also contain directions. You might have to remove the cartridge in the following several ways:

  1. On the cartridge or carriage, hunt for a release clip. To release the cartridge, squeeze or push the release clip; then, pull the cartridge out.
  2. To detach the cartridge, push down on it; then, pull it out at an angle from the place of attachment.
  3. To free the cartridge, raise the flap securing it. After that take out the cartridge.
  4. On big inkjet cartridges, press the release tab located on front of the cartridge. Pull it softly down the guide rails on the cartridge’s side.

5-Insert the New Cartridge

It should proceed in the opposite direction from what you eliminate. Check the angle to be proper. Most more recent cartridges will lock in place on their own with minimal force. Should the inkjet cartridge be large, slip the cartridge back in place using the side guide rails. Press hard till you hear it lock.

6-Close the printer

Closing the printer cover or cartridge access door will help the printer may pause to identify the new cartridge.

7-Test the Printer

This will ensure proper cartridge installation and start the ink flow prior to your first actual document.
